FermionIC and Tata Electronics Partner to Mass Produce India-Made ICs

Bangalore (Karnataka) [India], September 12: FermionIC Design Pvt. Ltd., a fabless RFIC design company headquartered in Bangalore, has announced a new strategic partnership with Tata Electronics. The collaboration focuses on providing advanced wafer-level testing, packaging, and post-silicon validation. This partnership will support the production increase of FermionIC’s indigenously designed and proprietary 4-Channel X-Band Beamformer IC, which was developed for next-generation TDD Phased Array Antennas.

This FD3R4411 Beamformer IC is a pioneering innovation in India, marking a key milestone for the country’s semiconductor and radar technology sectors. By making compact, high-performance phased array systems possible, this chip fulfills the needs of ranging radars, imaging radars, and advanced surveillance platforms. With its adoption by a growing number of public and private organizations, the IC is accelerating India’s capacity to build its own indigenous phased array radar solutions.

In this new alliance, Tata Electronics will act as the Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) partner. They will be responsible for flip-chip ball grid array (FcBGA) assembly and wafer-level testing. The partnership between FermionIC Design and Tata Electronics highlights the strengthening cooperation between India’s semiconductor design leaders and their advanced manufacturing partners.

“Our collaboration with Tata Electronics enables us to move this complex IC, which was fully designed and developed in India, from the design phase to staggered volume production starting in Q4 2025 on an expedited schedule,” said Gautam Kumar Singh, CEO of FermionIC Design. “This also guarantees that nearly the entire manufacturing value chain remains within India.”
